1st= JESS Jumeirah
Another school with passionate parents, JESS Jumeirah is ticking all the right boxes, with another Outstanding rating from Dubai's education regulator.
The school is old enough to cope with the loss of any member of staff (40 years old this year), however it will be something of a blow to be losing Ruth Burke who heads off for a position at GEMS. Under Burke's leadership the school has cemented the school's place as one of the leading schools in the UAE. The Director of the school, Rob Stokoe, who started his career at JESS as Deputy Head in Jumeirah, before going on to open the also “Outstanding” JESS Arabian Ranches Primary and Secondary School, is also retiring from the school this year. Mr Stokoe's replacement at JESS will be Mark Steed who comes with an impressive background from a leading UK independent school.
Students from Jumeirah gain automatic entry to JESS Arabian Ranches.
As our review notes, "parents at JESS are overwhelmingly positive about the school, singling out excellent communications about their children’s progress; English, mathematics and science teaching; and the level of enjoyment and participation of students themselves. Parents talk about the ‘village’ type atmosphere of the school, appreciated by pupils and parents alike. The school also has a strong parents association which organizes a well established ‘Night Market’ in December..."
Given the clear stress the school places on its community, combined with the progress and attainment its students make, JESS Jumeirah is one of the schools we were least surprised to find in the list of Most Recommended in Dubai.
