According to Gulf News, the KHDA takes an active role in the appointment of all new private school principals.
The process, in line with the National Agenda- UAE vision for 2021 sees the KHDA interviewing all potential principal appointees for schools across the Emirate of Dubai.
The National Agenda aims to rank the UAE in the 20 highest performing countries in Pisa (Programme for International Student Assessment) by 2021 and in addition, to be ranked in the 15 highest performing countries in TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) also in the same year.
The KHDA’s involvement in the appointment of all school principals is to ensure the candidate is both aware and capable of implementing the UAE 2021 vision plus the PISA and TIMSS assessment criteria.
In addition, the KHDA assesses the candidate’s knowledge, experience, qualifications and ability to lead.
As the KHDA plays an instrumental role in all aspects of education in the Emirate, the agency also assesses the candidate’s awareness of the KHDA inspection process and understanding of the specific academic plan for the school.
Only after the candidate passes the evaluation does the KHDA issue an appointment letter to the school owners.
However, if the candidate is found to be unsuitable, feedback is given to the school owners who should then present a new candidate.
School Education is government responsibility.
KHDA should find a way to provide free quality school education for all children living in Dubai instead of supporting to hike school fee
KHDA should consult parents also before approving any price hike to school management
