iCademy Middle East, based in Knowledge Village, Dubai, says demand for home-schooling has soared since the start of the 2016/17 academic year as Dubai's parents seek more affordable education options.

Formerly known as K12 Middle East, the learning centre, accredited by the KHDA, has seen enrollments spike 12 percent year on year with parents attracted by both its flexibility, and fees starting at 18,332 at KG and rising to 27,172 AED for Grade 12.

General manager Cody Claver, told WhichSchoolAdvisor.com: “We’ve seen a spike in enrollment recently as many families have come to us who have been looking for a more affordable and more flexible option for their children.

"The growth is a great indicator that our offering is unique and valued.”

According to the institution's survey of its own parents, 92 percent of its key stakeholders believe the online school to be a suitable learning environment for their child/children while 82% of families believe that the low teacher to student ratio helped meet their child’s individual learning needs. Almost all K12 parents fed back that they were provided with the materials, including textbooks and equipment needed to help their child study proving that the school provides real value for money.

Home schooling is a growing trend in the UAE, and slowly becoming more main stream. An assessment of its merits may be found here.
