LET'S GO

The first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan will be Saturday 27 May.

However, the UAE moon sighting committee did not sight the moon on Thursday 25 May, and therefore will reconvene tonight to view the crescent moon of Ramadan.

The Saudi committee announced yesterday that the Holy Month would start on Saturday 27 May.

The Saudi Supreme Court announced that Friday 26 May will mark the last day of the eighth month of Sha'baan.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar 'Hijri' calendar. The new moon marks the start of each new month.

During Ramadan all schools across the UAE operate shorter hours.

Private schools manage these at their own discretion, and timings will vary slightly from school to school.

Timetables for third party examinations will not be affected by the holy month.

WhichSchoolAdvisor.com wishes all of our readers - students, teachers and parents - a peaceful, reflective and happy Ramadan.
