Across the globe, many research reports indicate that girls are outperforming boys in some areas, and edging closer to outshining boys in subjects where male students may previously have dominated. What lies behind these statistics? In the latest episode of The School Show, we talk to three school leaders about educating our boys and young men.

Our studio guests for this special episode are Clare Turnbull, Head of Prep at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford, Dubai and Bill Delbrugge, Director, Dunecrest American School. Later, Jenny also chats with Sara Hedger, Head of Safeguarding at GEMS Education.

Clare, Bill and Sara help Jenny to look a whole host of topics relating to educating boys. These include:

  • Why do these gender gaps exist?
  • At what age do educators begin to notice differences in attainment for boys?
  • What works best for boys… Co-ed or single sex schools?
  • Are the same gender-based differences noticeable here in Dubai?
  • What do we need to think about in terms of mental health, wellbeing and physical health for boys?
