What we say: GEMS Modern is no 'ordinary' Indian school. Back in 2014, the school took the decision to offer both the CISCE and the IB Dipoma to senior students, making it the first in the world to do so.

To help students move between the CISCE curriculum and the IB at post-16, the school offers an intensive 3 month 'summer-school,' and it would seem it works.

The Results: Modern’s first set of IB Diploma Programme results were good. Of the 42 candidates registered for the May 2016 session, 39 were Diploma Candidates and 3 were Diploma Course candidates. The average overall point score obtained by Diploma candidates was 33.6 points, exceeding the world average of 30.1 points. In addition, 14% of our candidates achieved 40 points or higher, 40% achieved 35 points or higher and 83% achieved 30 points or higher.

Facilities: While Modern is not considered 'premium' when compared to the fees at UK or IB schools, the fees are certainly 'premium when compared to the Indian school averages. However, for this, students are getting some of the best facilities in Dubai, Modern boasts: top class science labs, IT facilities and library, while outside the sports facilities include, swimming pool, tennis courts and numerous ball game pitches.

What the KHDA says: The KHDA notes very high levels of attention given to each student in both the personal and academic fields. Student performance on external examinations and outstanding academic achievement was strong.

English, maths and science across all levels of the school is Outstanding.

Learning skills, assessment and curriculum design and adaption are all Outstanding.

Student commitment and devotion to the school made significant contributions to the dynamic learning environment.

Clarity of vision and drive of the principal, with the full support of the senior leadership team set appropriate targets to meet the current national development priorities.

SEN Provision: The school had a highly inclusive ethos. It admitted students with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities. ‘Meticulous and timely’ interventions were made for the accurate identification and on-going checking of students' progress and well-being, while teaching and curriculum development allowed students progress.
