Top Marks For Dubai College: Says UK Accreditation Body
Dubai College, rated ninth in the UAE by our sister site SchoolsCompared.com in its 25 Best Schools In The UAE, has been awarded the top accolade in a new global peer led inspection.
The Dubai based not for profit school chose to become the first school worldwide to pilot the comprehensive new COBIS Accreditation and Compliance system for British schools overseas— The Patron's Accreditation.
The process saw the school awarded the highest possible inspection rating by the Accreditation body.
The reviewers, drawn from COBIS headquarters and top international UK schools, found DC to be ‘top of the class’ in every inspection indicator rated.
“Dubai College is fully compliant with all of the standards set forth by The Council of British International Schools that enable it to be a member of the organisation. The school is willing to share its areas of best practice with other schools within the organisation promoting school improvement for the benefit of students worldwide.”

The COBIS peer review team comprised of Peter Simpson Director of Accreditation- COBIS, John Coombes assistant head teacher at The British School in The Netherlands and John Nicholls Assistant director, leadership development and professional development (Asia) Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong.
The team reported, “the headteacher, supported by an enthusiastic and driven leadership team, understands the journey that the school needs to undertake to maintain its local and international reputation as a leader in the field.”
Dubai College principal, Michael Lambert, believes the benefit of the peer review is "that the improvement partners are all heads or leading educators who know from the inside the challenges which face all schools." The Accreditation cycle is 5 years. Lambert says, "despite the open and honest dialogue there are certain core non-negotiables. Child protection and safeguarding, the topic which is the single most important issue for... British education, is top of the list..."
