Dubai Cares has opened its 2018 Philanthropic Awards, for all schools and students in the UAE.
The initiative is open to both schools and groups of students, and organisers hope it will encourage UAE school children to engage in efforts to help underprivileged children.
The move is part of Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, and is in partnership with the KHDA.
The initiative invites students to design fundraising projects to assist children affected by conflicts, epidemics and natural disasters.
Tariq Al Gurg, CEO at Dubai Cares, said, “as we look forward to mark 2018 as the ‘Year of Zayed’, Dubai Cares is proud to launch the third edition of its Distinguished Philanthropic Award in Schools in the UAE in memory of our founding father, the late Shaikh Zayed.
“Through this award, our goal is to strengthen our ties with all UAE-based schools and students, as well as raise awareness around the obstacles preventing underprivileged children and young people in developing countries from receiving quality education,” he said.
The initiative falls into two categories: The Young Philanthropists Award and The Philanthropic School Award.
Students with the most creative fund-raising ideas will be eligible for the The Young Philanthropists Award, while the school which raises the most money overall will be awarded the Philanthropic School Award.
