Dubai's 'Outstanding' Schools: No Change in 2013/14
The number of Outstanding schools in Dubai has remained static in 2013/14 over the previous year, with 12 schools given the KHDA's, the emirate's education regulator's highest rating.

The 12 schools given the rating for 2013/14 are: Kings School Dubai (UK), Dubai College (UK), Dubai English Speaking College (UK), GEMS Dubai American Academy (US), GEMS Jumeirah Primary School (UK), GEMS Modern Academy (Indian), GEMS Wellington International School (UK), Horizons English School (UK), Jumeirah College (UK), Jumeirah English Speaking School (UK), Jumeirah English Speaking School (Br) (UK), and The Indian High School (Indian).
These are the same schools that ranked Outstanding in 2012/13. They represent 8.5% of the total 141 schools that received an inspection report.
Combined, 21,710 students now study in what are deemed to be Outstanding schools in Dubai, a 6% increase on the 20,435 said to be so in 2012/13. This is because the schools noted have increased their capacity over the previous period.
A number of schools have improved their grade from Acceptable to Good. These schools are: GreenField Community School (IB), JSS International School (Indian), Dar Al Marefa School (IB), Dubai Police Kindergarten - Deira Branch (MoE), Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Islamic Institute (MoE) and Star International School (UK).
In total just under 40% of Dubai's private schools are rated 'Good', 24% are rated Acceptable and 5.6% are still deemed 'Unsatisfactory'.
In terms of student numbers, 98,690 students are said to be studying at Good schools, 106,640 at Acceptable schools (which tend to be much larger in size in terms of student numbers) and a total 10,680 still said to be studying un Unsatisfactory schools.
No school in Dubai slipped a grade for the 2013/14 academic year, suggesting a very moderate improvement in the overall performance of the emirate's schools.
In total 89 per cent of Dubai's student population receive private education, representing 243,715 students in 158 private schools.
