What the KHDA says: At Dar Al Marefa, the KG outperforms the other IB stages quite significantly, with several PYP, MYP and DP core subject indicators rated only Accepetable.

Arabic language and Islamic education vary between Acceptable and Very Good. However, adaption of the curriculum is primarily only Acceptable.

The report notes, “Teachers explain concepts well and set up interesting lessons. Through effective assessment procedures they have a well-developed knowledge of the strengths and developmental needs of the students in their classes. Some aspects of lessons, including planning, questioning and development of students’ higher-order thinking skills, are not consistent across subjects and phases.  

The curriculum is well balanced and is designed effectively to allow students to progress in a continuous fashion.

The social studies curriculum is a strength but IB principles are not fully implemented in the curriculum at all phases. In KG, the curriculum is adapted well to meet the needs of different groups. Curriculum adaptation is Acceptable in the other phases.”

Innovation: The new principal has been in post for only a few months, and many teachers are new to the school, consequently strategic planning, to promote innovation, is at an early stage.
