The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) has announced a ban on any further school fee increases for this academic year, (2016/17), and says it will impose fines for any schools found upping their fees.

The authority says it received 90 fee increase requests so far for the 2016/17 academic year and will not be accepting any more. Of these, ADEC has approved 51 applications, with an average increase of around six percent.

Approval for fee increases is based on numerous criteria set by the authority, these include: evaluation, professional development, the costs of technical and administrative staff, SEN numbers and building development and maintenance.

Those who would like to know their school's fee threshold, can find all 2016/17 details on the ADEC website, found here.
