Parents of children in sixty schools in Sharjah face the prospect of fee increases for the upcoming academic year. The Sharjah Education Zone (SEZ) has announced that requests from sixty private schools to increase their fees have been approved. The tuition fee increases will be between 2 to 5 percent.

U.S and British curriculum schools make up the vast majority of the schools - 47 in total - with the remainder comprising Indian and Pakistani schools.

The SEZ, however, rejected requests by a further 34 schools to increase their fees. No further details for the rejection were given.
