2017/18 Dubai school inspections begin
A total of 166 private schools will be inspected by Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai in the latest cycle of school inspections, which started last week.
The increase of seven schools include those undergoing inspections for the first time. New schools are exempt from inspections during their first three years of operation.
Those to be inspected for the first time include Swiss International Scientific School Dubai, Dubai British School Jumeirah Park, Ranches Primary School and Hartland International School.
In total Dubai is home to 185 private schools that look after just over a quarter of a million pupils (275,599). Those excluded include new schools while schools rated Outstanding can opt to be inspected every other year.
Last year, the KHDA inspected 159 of its 185 private schools. Sixteen were rated outstanding schools, 14 very good, 69 good, 50 acceptable and 10 weak. Follow the link for a full breakdown of the latest KHDA school ratings.

It is always important for parents drill past the overall ranking of a KHDA report to get to those criteria that matter to them. This year, the school inspections will place a special emphasis on the UAE National Agenda, social studies, innovation, Emirati students, moral education and special education needs.
