According to the cabinet approved unified academic calendar, the 2017 school summer holidays will start on 23 June and end on 9 September.
This year Eid Al Fitr is expected on 25 June and Eid Al Adha on 1 September, however these dates may vary depending on the sightings of the moon.
According to the Khaleej Times, these dates will not apply for many of the country's Pakistani and Indian schools which utilise a different academic calendar.
Schools must comply with the Ministry of Education's working school day calendar. This year, the allowance is 184 days, while next year will be slightly shorter with 181 working school days.
