UAE students between the ages of 10 and 25 are being encouraged to enter a new 3D printing competition, which will see the winners walk-away with Dhs10,000 in prize money and a 3D printer of their own.
Inspired by the recent Innovation Week activities, UAE based company Atlab decided to create their own innovative competition. Asking students to design a consumer product, the Gulf 3D Printing Olympiad competition wants school children to design an innovative product which will help people in their daily lives.
The Atlab website states, "this event is an opportunity for all the students in the region to showcase their creativity and design skills, in designing advanced 3D models and successfully printing them out in a competition format. Participating students will showcase their talents under various categories based on their grade / level in the school / university. Each institution can send any number of teams to participate in the event."
General manager at Atlab, S. Senthil Kugan told the Khaleej Times,"this event is an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity, innovative thinking and design skills, in designing advanced 3D models and successfully printing them out in a three-dimensional format."
The company is offering both cash and printer prizes for each age group, in addition, the overall winner will receive an all expenses paid trip to a 2016 UK based 3D printing show.
