10 New Dubai Schools to Open in September
The KHDA announced today that 10 new schools will be opening across Dubai in September 2017.
The new schools will offer, British, Indian, IB, French, Canadian and American curricula options.
The new schools will not only offer diverse curricula, but a range of price points and facilities too.
Kalthoom Al Balooshi, executive director of Education Development at KHDA, said, “the new schools opening this September are committed to serving their communities and enabling the success and wellbeing of their students.”
“The schools will offer high-quality teaching and learning across a variety of locations, price points and curricula, and will help to meet the need for more school places in Dubai.”
Indian Curriculum
Indian curriculum, Amity School in Al Qusais will have fees set at near premium (for the CBSE market), with prices starting at AED 15,000 rising to AED 26,000.
The Global Indian International School, in Al Qusais, will offer a CBSE education for between AED 27,000 and AED 37,000.
UK Curriculum
Only last week, WhichSchoolAdvisor.com visited Dubai Heights, the new British curriculum school in Al Barsha. The school will offer premium facilities and a fully inclusive ethos for between AED 44,200 for Foundation to AED 58,400 for Year 4. The school will add the remainder of Primary and a Secondary school in the coming years.
The Alpha School in Al Qusais plans to offer a UK curriculum at the very affordable price of AED 19,750 to AED 28,500.
Newlands School will open in Al Warqaa this summer with highly affordable fees between AED 19,200 and AED 26,400. The school hopes to attract students from Mirdif, Warqaa, Muhaisanah, Mizhar and other surrounding neighbourhoods.
The DEWA Academy in Hudaiba, will be unique in the sense it will open as a stand-alone sixth-form offering A Levels and BTEC.
Others curricula...
IB school, North London Collegiate will become the UAE’s highest priced school with fees between AED 83,000 and AED 130,000. The brand already has a school in the UK which is consistently top of the UK league tables, and a successful branch in South Korea.
While UK and Indian schools tend to dominate the UAE's education landscape, the country is home to a remarkably diverse range of curricula. September 2017 will see new schools contributing to that diversity.
The British Colombia Canadian School in Dubai Investment Park, will offer tuition between AED 40,000 and AED 60,000 per annum.
The Lycees Francais Jean Mermoz, plans to open a new chapter in French National education in the UAE, offering an impressive building with modern facilities, in a convenient location in Al Qouz, with fees between AED 36,000 to AED 46,000.
The Rising School in Nad Al Sheba will offer a US curriculum at fees between AED 38,000 and AED 55,000.
Announcing the new schools, Dr Abdulla Al Karam, director general of Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) said, “every new school that opens in Dubai gives parents more choice for their children’s education.”
“That Dubai continues to attract high numbers of new schools and new residents speaks to the growth of our economy, and to the trust that parents and school operators have in the quality of education offered here.”
“We’re happy to welcome our new schools into an education culture based on collaboration, innovation and wellbeing.”
Data from the KHDA report Capacity to Grow shows that new schools typically fill 60% of places after four years of operation, and 80% after seven years.
