LET'S GO

An area that is the subject of much high end development, especially around the waterfront. The Al Maqtaa area (spelled Al Maqta'a, Al Maqtaa or Al Maqta) is already home of some of the city’s leading tourism, culture and urban landmarks such as the historical Al Maqta Castle, Al Maqta Bridge (main image), the Souk al Qaryat Al Beri as well as the Shaikh Zayed Bridge.

The area is also home to the newest, swankiest hotels and tourist destinations - including the Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri and the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, while directly over the water in Khor al Maqra is the Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi.

It's not quite all new. The Al Maqtaa Fort Abu Dhabi is a 200-year old monument which was once used to defend against the attack of bandits. Today it is rather humbled however by the ultra modern Al Maqta Bridge that looms very large by its side.

Al Maqtaa is also very close to one of, if not Abu Dhabi's most famous landmark - the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque which is situated in Khor al Makta/Zayed Sports City.

There are places to live in Al Maqta, both villas and apartments. Perhaps unsurprisingly, prices are relatively high.
