There is a growing number of new schools opening across Thailand – but Traill International School has all the advantages of one that is built on more than 50 years of tradition and experience. Founded in 1966 as a secondary school for predominantly US expats, Traill has grown into an all-through school with students representing over 26 different nationalities.
Located in Bangkok’s Bang Kapi district, Traill has always remained a small “boutique” school with just under 400 students. Teaching follows the National Curriculum for England from kindergarten through to primary and secondary levels, and the school teaches both IGCSEs an A/AS Levels. At the helm is head teacher Gordon Espley-Jones, a Brit with several years’ experience working in international schools, and teachers are recruited from the UK, US, Canada, Australasia, and South Africa.
The National Curriculum for England covers English, maths, physics, chemistry, biology, ICT, history, geography, business studies, art, drama, music, PSHE, and PE; it’s given an international slant with lessons in Thai and the choice of studying French, Mandarin, and Japanese. The school has a strong academic record, with a pass rate of 76% in IGCSEs, 89% in AS Levels, and 100% in A Levels.
Fees at Traill are among the highest in the country, but in the school’s own words it offers “value-for-money education”.
