The Regent's International School, Bangkok is a high achieving British school that sends students to leading universities worldwide, it has impressive academic and sporting facilities, and offers specialist programmes in soccer and music.

The Regent's International School, Bangkok is a day and boarding school for children aged 3 to 18 years that's widely regarded as one of the best international schools in Thailand.

RIS delivers a typical British education that is based on the National Curriculum for England – from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Nursery level through to IGCSEs in Years 10 – 11. This is given an international slant with lessons in Thai and Mandarin, and field trips to explore Thai culture. The school promises to develop the English curriculum "into a curriculum that meets the needs of a multi-cultural student body in an international environment".

Post-16, the school adopts the more global International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), which the school says, "ensures that our students leave school prepared for university, prepared for the challenges they will face but, more than this, able to actively participate in society as open minded, principled global citizens".

The school has a BYOD policy, with students having iPads from Year 5 and laptops from Year 8. RIS says it is "at the forefront of cloud computing for students in Bangkok. They have anywhere, anytime access to learning". Other standout features here include music classes run by the Yamaha Music School Bangkok, and coaching clinics with Chelsea FC Soccer School. Also, senior students have the opportunity to study at a British boarding school (Barnardiston Hall School) for up to one term.

RIS is part of the global network of 180 Round Square schools, which embrace a set of IDEALS – internationalism, democracy, environmental awareness, adventure, leadership, and service to the community – as part of their approach to learning. It's the driving force behind events such as the Round Square Week of activities, student exchange trips, and regional and international service projects – all of which involve students from Early Years up to Year 13. By attending a Round Square school, you could say that students have extra opportunities to experience other cultures.

In terms of academic performance, 91% of students achieved A* – C in their 2018 IGCSEs and 37% were graded A* – A; in the 2017 IBDP, students scored an average of 33, which is higher than the global average of 30.

School community
The school has a student population of around 600, representing more than 35 nationalities. The majority of teachers here are from the UK. Class sizes remain low: 1:14 at early years, 1:18 at primary, and 1:10 at secondary. The school was founded in 1999 as part of the Regent's Schools group, which also has a campus in Pattaya (a Nord Anglia school).

RIS has recently updated its centrally located campus with new facilities including an early years' centre, music school, drama studio, art department, IB facilities, libraries, parent's lounge, and coffee shop. It also has a FIFA pitch, swimming pool, basketball court, and huge sports complex that gives students access to a wide variety of sporting programmes.

A full review will be posted shortly.
