Founded in 2000 by the present head teacher, Monica Sudhirak, St Andrews Samakee International School is a small British-curriculum primary school of 270 students from 25 different nationalities. The school currently enrols students from Nursery through to Year 9, and teaching follows the National Curriculum for England. Students then need to transfer to another international school.
The school was rated Outstanding in its 2015 and 2018 inspections by the British Schools Overseas, which said that it “provides an excellent ‘British-style education’ in an innovative and exciting way”.
Learning at St Andrews is hands-on, creative, and varied. Examples of its stimulating learning activities include the daily Move to Learn and Boot Camp sessions for all students; a school-wide project to build a treehouse on campus; and the fun twist on the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) programme using ‘learning dinosaurs’.
Located just north of central Bangkok in Nonthaburi, St Andrews has a green campus with plenty of space for outdoor play, and facilities including playing fields, sports field, basketball courts, covered play area, sandpits, bike track, playhouse, play equipment, swimming pool, a children’s farm, and pet area. Teaching facilities include art rooms, a library and media centre, Thai room, music and practice rooms, dance and drama studio, science lab, and multi-use games and sports arena.
