Panyaden International School is a bilingual school for nursery and primary school children based in Chiang Mai. Here’s a school that is as focused on cultivating a way of life as it is on teaching an academic education. Founded in 2010 to deliver an holistic education, Panyaden bases its teaching on the International Primary Curriculum, which is known for its creative and thematic approach to teaching, and the National Curriculum for England. Its curriculum also focuses on Buddhist principles, raising green awareness, and life skills such as vegetable growing, healthy eating, building a shelter, and making a fire.
The curriculum is taught in both Thai and English from Nursery through to Year 7 (the end of primary school), and each class has a Thai teacher and a fluent English-speaking teacher. In the school’s own words,
“All Panyaden students are expected to reach a level where they are functional in English and in Thai.”
The campus, which is a fine example of eco-friendly architecture, includes several open learning pavilions, a Buddhist chapel, mini rice plots, vegetable gardens, and a swimming pool. Located amongst the rice fields, Panyaden is just a 15 minute-drive from the city centre.
The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
