NLCS Bangkok has delayed its August 2020 opening - and a new date is yet to be announced.

North London Collegiate School (NLCS) is due to open an all-through, all-girls day school in central Bangkok. The opening date, which was set for August 2020 pre-Covid-19, has yet to be announced.

It is planned to be a British school offering the National Curriculum for England up to age 16, with pupils sitting GCSEs followed by the IB Diploma Programme in sixth form. It promises to bring "NLCS’ ethos of rigorous scholarship, extra-curricular excellence and outstanding pastoral care to Thailand".

The NLCS Bangkok campus, which will be the first all-girls international school in Thailand, will be located on a more than 30,000 square-metre site in the heart of Bangkok with "brand new, state-of-the-art, facilities designed specifically as an all-girls campus." It promises to "provide the same impressive range of extra-curricular activities" as offered at other NLCS campuses.

Applications to the school will initially open for girls aged 5 to 14 years old; there are plans to expand the school up to 18 years in the future.

This will be the fourth international campus for the leading British public school NLCS, following NLCS Jeju in South Korea, which opened in 2011, NLCS Dubai, which opened in 2017, and NLCS Singapore, which opened in September 2020.

NLCS UK has been ranked number one in the UK for International Baccalaureate results, with an average Diploma score never dipping below 40 points. In 2017, 43% of the school's IB cohort achieved over 40 points.

The South Korea school, which is only in its third year for IBDP, has an average of 38 points – on a par with the highest ranking schools in East Asia.
