Nakornpayap International School (NIS) his building on 25 years' experience in American, college-prep education - and meeting the demand for international schooling in Chiang Mai.

Founded in 1993, Nakornpayap International School (NIS) is one of Thailand's most well-established schools. Now 25 years old, NIS is a K to Grade 12 international school in Chiang Mai offering an American-style curriculum with an international slant.

Teaching in the early years (K1 – 3) focuses on core subjects, outdoor activities, music, art, and PE; field trips are planned throughout the year to supplement classroom activities. In elementary and middle school, the US-style curriculum covers the core subjects as well as music, art, PE, IT, library studies, and Thai Language & Culture. Students then progress to a high school curriculum (Grades 9 – 12) that is college-prep and includes a variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses; these include English language & composition, biology, calculus, chemistry, statistics, physics, studio art, economics, psychology, and computer science.

In the school's own words,

"With a capacity for 600 students, NIS is big enough to offer diverse programs and large-scale activities and small enough to guarantee attention to individual development and educational success."

NIS has a well-equipped campus that meets the needs of its academic, sporting, and creative arts programmes. Facilities include a dedicated early childhood centre, art and music rooms, science and IT labs, spacious outdoor play areas, auditorium, indoor gym, fitness room, dance studio, half-Olympic sized swimming pool, full size football field, basketball courts, and a courtyard.
