Describing itself as a "a traditional Christian day-school", Grace International School (GIS) was founded in 1999 to educate the children of expats. Today, this school in Chiang Mai has a student population of 600 children representing more than 30 nationalities. It teaches Kindergarten through to Grade 12 and follows an American-style, college-preparatory curriculum.
At each grade level, students study the core academic subjects through a Christ-integrated curriculum, as well as art, music, PE, and Thai. At secondary level, GIS offers a wide choice of subjects ranging from technology and science to the arts and religious studies. Senior students can study AP courses in biology, calculus, chemistry, English literature, physics, psychology, statistics, studio art, US history, and world history. The school also holds various chapel groups, choirs, and spiritual weeks for all grades.
Before the COVID-19 lockdown, Grace International School had begun work on developments and expansions to the campus, which are ongoing. Projects include work on the elementary playground, a secondary outdoor court, and new security measures. GIS is due to break ground on a new Athletics Complex in 2021/2022, and more information about ongoing projects and donations can be found on the school website.
