With its low tuition fees, small class sizes, creative curriculum and friendly neighbourhood campus, Buds International School has plenty of appeal for both international and local families living in Phuket.

Located in a quiet neighbourhood in Phuket, Buds International School Phuket is a relative newcomer – and one of Thailand's most affordable international primary schools. The primary school opened in 2016 as an extension of the well-established and hugely popular Buds International Kindergarten and Nursery School.

A small school of just 200 students, Buds offers a US-based education from Kindergarten through to Grade 8. Teaching follows America's Common Core Standards, which is a popular US framework for curriculum consistency.

The school says,

"This programme gives us the freedom to be creative and enrich the curriculum as we see fit so our students receive the attention and information they need to succeed."

As well as studying the core subjects of English, maths, and science, all students have lessons in social studies, PE, swimming, and foreign languages (Chinese and Thai). The school has also invested heavily in a music programme that features a wide range of instruments and music therapy courses.

Class sizes are small and restricted to a maximum of 18 children, and all students from Grades 3 – 6 are required to sit an entrance examination. There's a close-knit school community here, with many families walking to the school gate from the Chalong area. Students are given a warm welcome onto a modern but cosy campus, and they have access to tennis courts and a swimming pool nearby.
