American School of Bangkok (ASB) is an American curriculum day school with standout features including mindfulness classes and a university preparation programme.

Bearing the motto "The School of Leaders", American School of Bangkok (Sukhumvit) aims to deliver well-rounded individuals by incorporating mindfulness into its rigorous US curriculum. Opened in 1983, this all-through school for pre-K through to Grade 12 has around 500 students from more than 40 different nationalities.

ASB has two campuses – Green Valley and Sukhumvit. Smaller and cosier than its sister campus in Green Valley, ASB Sukhumvit has some impressive modern facilities including computer and science labs; a music, drama, and art studio; auditorium; creative play area; basketball court; soccer pitch; and access to swimming pools.

This is very much an American-style school. The majority of teachers come from the US, followed by Canada and the UK; teaching is heavily influenced by American methods including MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing; high school students can study AP courses; and it follows the US two-semester system.

The curriculum
The rigorous American curriculum includes English, social studies, science, maths, and language arts, as well as a wide choice of elective courses including entrepreneurship, business, marketing, foreign languages, music, art, drama, IT, and design and technology. Students can take AP courses in high school, and there's a university preparation programme for students taking the SAT and iBT TOEFL tests for college/university applications.

ASB offers a unique mindfulness programme to all students that focuses on self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and mental development. Students have access to research and self-learning centres, as well as cutting-edge technology across the curriculum. Also, the school has a strong sporting streak; it is a member of the Bangkok International Schools Athletic Conference (BISAC), as well as the Thailand International Schools Athletic Conference (TISAC), and it fields teams in many sports. As well as offering a wide variety of sports clubs and after-school activities, ASB has implemented mandatory community service hours for all students.
