Located in Bantai, the school was founded in 2012 but has only now been licensed by the government to teach a full international British curriculum for primary aged children. Si Ri Panya has enrolled nearly 100 students to start this month, and the opening of the island’s first official international school will appeal to local and expat families alike.
The school says: "Receiving our license has taken many years of hard work from our whole team in particular Thai Director Aunchisa Pumtong.
"We have all worked hard to make this dream a reality as we believe our modern education philosophy that focuses on developing a love of learning and educates the whole person; mind, body and spirit will bring greater educational choice to the families of Koh Phangan."
Si Ri Panya International School is run by local Thai Wijetson Bunchuoy and his British wife, Nicola, and the founding head Lisa Lennon.
