Sports facilities such as these courts at ESF KGV remain unused during the school closures

As Hong Kong’s schools are restricted in what they can deliver, after-school education clubs and online tutors are trying to fill the gaps in education.

For example, the Baker & Bloom learning centre has launched a new Study Hall programme, offering two-hour sessions that help Grade 1-6 students complete their school’s online assignments and learning tasks. And in the run-up to exams, Holland Park is offering online GCSE tutoring with British tutors based in the UK, and ITS Education is offering GCSE, A-level, IB MYP or Dip, or HKDSE tutorial support lessons on location or using its live online classroom.

During the compulsory school closures, all after-school activities are suspended. This also includes all all training, matches, tournaments and camps run by external clubs, and ESF's sports and language programmes.

There are some exceptions. Activity providers such as Island Sports HK are offering one or two-hour ‘pop-up’ sports camps across Hong Kong to help keep children active during the school closures, as well as private classes at home for small groups. Swim clubs including Harry Wright International are also holding private and small group lessons.
