Thailand Area Guides: North East Thailand

Roi Et Area Guide

The Land of Smiles
“Visitors are greeted at the airport with a sign saying ‘Welcome to the Land of Smiles’ – and it’s not just because of the friendly locals. From the azure blue of the sea and dazzling white of the sandy beaches to the verdant green of the jungle and gleaming gold of the temples, the colours of Thailand are dazzling.”

LET'S GO

Located in North East Thailand, Roi Et is a peaceful corner of Thailand that is on the road less travelled for many visitors and expats. This laidback province is best known for the large standing Buddha of Wat Buraphaphiram, which is the largest of its kind in Thailand. There are also a few natural attractions including Phalanchai Lake.

While Roi Et is much smaller than provinces such as Bangkok, it should not be overlooked in terms of history and culture. In terms of getting around, Roi Et has an airport with cheap daily flights to Bangkok.
