Located in central Singapore (Bukit Timah/Dunearn Road), LEEDS International School is a standalone primary school offering a British education. It is owned by the Sri Lankan education group, LEEDS International Schools, which educates more than 5,500 students in 11 branches across Colombo's suburbs. The Singapore campus is the group's first school in Singapore and its 12th overall.
LEEDS International School enters Singapore's education market as a low-cost school with annual fees of $15,000. It offers an international curriculum to student of all nationalities looking for an affordable inquiry-based, integrated curriculum in English.
The school opened alongside two other new schools including Knightsbridge House International School (KBH) and OWIS Suntec.
LEEDS International School MD/CEO Sanjeev Kumar says:
"Our goal is not to imitate or compete with the large international schools in the Singapore. Our aim is to be different and in doing so to offer more choice to parents and their children."
LEEDS follows the Cambridge International Primary curriculum which covers English, maths, science, languages (French/Hindi) and ICT, as well as music, art and craft, and PE. The school has recruited Cambridge-trained teachers from countries including South Africa, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and India.
The school has a strong cricket programme, and co-curricular activities include Junior Chef, Origami and Just Dance.
Mr Kumar said:
"We want children of all ages and abilities to have a positive experience ofcCricket, both as a participant or a leader, so that they will want to play or lead more in the future."
LEEDS plans to offer exchange trips with a Cambridge school in Australia for both students and teachers.
The academic year runs from August to July in line with most international schools in Singapore, and there are four terms.
LEEDS is centrally located in Bukit Timah, close to the King Albert Park MRT. It has a small campus with facilities including six Smart classrooms, multi-purpose hall, reading corner, computer room and an activity room. There is an outdoor area for PE, football, cricket and break times. Students travel off-campus to use facilities including a swimming pool, climbing wall, and play areas for extra-curricular activities.
This is a non-selective school and admission is open to students of all nationalities with a Dependent Pass and Permanent Residents.
Annual fees are $15,408, payable in six instalments.
