This all-through school offers a solid IB education that’s rooted in Chinese language and tradition.

Established in 2006 as the Chinese International School, HWA International School is perhaps best known in Singapore for its dual language programme in English and Mandarin. The school was formerly known as Hillside World Academy (HWA).

This is the first international branch of Beijing Huijia Private School, which has kindergartens and IB schools across China. In line with all Beijing Huijia schools, HWA focuses on delivering a “Bilingual Bicultural education” and teaches the IB’s Primary Years Programme bilingually.

Here’s a school where students from kindergarten through to Grade 6 are encouraged to switch between PuTongHua, Mandarin, and English in the classroom. Half the teachers speak both English and Mandarin, and the bicultural system continues into the IB's Middle Years Programme and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The school also runs a Beijing student exchange programme with its sister school.

HWA recently moved to a new city campus located in Marina Square. The school's owner China Maple Leaf Educational Systems, which also owns Canadian International School, sold its previous Hillside Drive site in Hougang to NPS International School. HWA's new campus has 11 classrooms and one multi-purpose room.
