WhichSchoolAdvisor's annual school survey.

Welcome to the Dover Court official Q and A page. Here we ask the questions, and the school answers directly. It is its chance to have its say on specific areas you have told us you want to know about. If you think there are additional questions we should be asking you may contact us here.

What qualities and characteristics would you say define your school?

Dover Court International School is an inclusive and diverse community that enables all individuals to realise their academic and personal potential. Our dynamic and challenging learning environment values enquiry, resilience and reflection. We act with integrity and treat one another with respect, learning together as responsible global citizens.

How many nationalities are represented in your school?

More than 60 nationalities are represented in our school.

Does your school have a waiting list?

Describe your school's approach to education and teaching?

Dover Court International School offers a broad, balanced and differentiated programme operating within the framework of the English National Curriculum, a curriculum used by over 30,000 schools worldwide, known for its reliable assessment system and rich variety of resources.

Physical education and sport is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. How does your school ensure children engage in physical activity?

Every child is encouraged to be active at DCIS. We believe that at a strong mind needs a strong body and physical education and swimming are taught by our specialist PE teachers, making sure that all children get the chance to be active, challenged and also learn to be confident in the water. We also offer a wide extra-curricular sports programme, with activities ranging from rigorous physical training for expeditions to inclusive sports open to children of all abilities.

Does the school have cafeteria facilities for the students?

Together with our catering partner we serve hot and cold food in our lower primary and main canteens. Our secondary students can also access the campus cafe.

If yes, does it serve hot food?

What is the starting and finishing time of your school day?

The school day starts at 8.30am and finishes at 3.00pm.

Is there a school uniform?

Yes. The DCIS school uniform is designed to be both practical and smart. We encourage the children to wear their uniform with pride and to take care of it.

Which other languages are taught?

Students in Primary School have daily Mandarin lessons. Students in Secondary can choose between Mandarin and French. Spanish is offered for GCSE level.

Not all schools are staffed or resourced to offer learning support to those children with either moderate or significant learning needs. To what level can you offer support for those with learning differences?

At Dover Court International School we are passionate about inclusion, it is our mission to nurture the potential of every single student in a dynamic and challenging learning environment which values enquiry, perseverance and reflection.

Whether your child requires a short term intervention or more structured ongoing support, DCIS has a range of unique learning pathways that enable all students to access learning, thrive and grow into happy and well rounded individuals, prepared for their next step in study, training or the world of work.

Our programmes start in Early Years from the age of 3 and our curriculum is closely aligned to the English National Curriculum but with appropriate adaptions made to meet the needs of our students. For example, in our secondary school, where a student is not able to meet the outcomes expected for iGCSE, we have alternative routes that focus on English, mathematics, life skills and employability, delivered by highly trained special education teachers.

Do you offer specific activities, events or information sessions for those parents new to the school and/or area?

We organise termly coffee mornings for new and returning parents. Our active parent association organises events throughout the year, such as a welcome back picnic, Halloween, Christmas Fayre, Quiz Night, Summer Social etc.
