Singapore IB Diploma Results 2022

IB Results Day marks the culmination of two extraordinary years in education for the 2022 cohort of IB students in Singapore. Here we celebrate the achievements of these students with an in-depth roundup of results for the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) and Career-related Programmes (IBCP) as we receive them from local and international schools in Singapore.

IB students at XCL World Academy are celebrating another high average score

Results for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and Career-related Programme (IBCP) are out – and more than 1,700 students at international and local schools in Singapore are celebrating an average score of 37.49, well above the global average of 31.98.

At a Glance: 2022 Results

  • Singapore's average IBDP score is 37.49 which surpasses the global average; it is very marginally lower than last year’s average of 37.69 points.
  • The global average score is 31.98 (a reduction of one point compared with last year's figure of 32.98).  
  • Singapore's IBDP average grade is 5.92; students receive grades ranging from 7 to 1, with 7 being the highest for each subject. 
  • The global pass rate is 85.6% (98.7% in May 2021).
  • The number of students taking the IBDP in Singapore was 1,739 compared to 1,679 last year.
  • A total of 173,878 students took the IBDP and IBCP examinations worldwide, compared with 165,884 IBDP students in 2021.  

The minimum point requirement for the award of the Diploma is 23 points with the highest award being 45 points.

The two-year IBDP programme is currently offered at 30 local and international schools in Singapore; the IBCP is currently offered at just two schools and Dulwich College (Singapore) is introducing the IBCP from August 2022.

In Singapore, the IBDP is taken at the following international schools in May: Canadian International SchoolChatsworth International School (Bukit Timah Campus), Dover Court International School, Dulwich College (Singapore), XCL World Academy, EtonHouse International School (Orchard), OWIS (Nanyang), GESSGIIS SMART CampusHillside World Academy, ISS International School Singapore (High School)NexusNPS International SchoolOverseas Family SchoolStamford American International School, Tanglin Trust SchoolUnited World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA), Dover and East Campuses.

Some Singapore schools follow a January to December calendar and sit the IBDP exams in November. These include St Joseph’s Institution International, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), Australian International SchoolHwa Chong International School (HCIS), Madrasah Aljunied Al-IslamiahSchool of The Arts Singapore (SOTA),Singapore Sports School (SSP), St Joseph's Institution and ACS (International) Singapore.

Tanglin Trust School

Tanglin Trust School, which is typically among the top three international schools in Singapore for the IB, has an average score of 41.3 which is 3.8 points higher than the Singapore average this year and nearly one whole point higher than last year's 40.7 points out of 45. This is a record-breaking average for the school and well above the world average (31.98 this year). 

Tanglin is one of only a few international schools in Singapore to offer both the IBDP and A Levels at sixth form level (Years 12 – 13); there are around 320 students in the Sixth Form overall. 

This year, three students achieved 45 points and 11 students achieved 44 points. In the IB cohort of 51 students, 100% of the cohort achieved 35 points or more. 11% of the cohort scored a very high 44 points or more, and 93% of the cohort scored 38 points or more. Two students achieved the Bilingual Diploma.

XCL World Academy

XCL World Academy has reported an average score of 36 points and a 100% pass rate. In the cohort of 51, one student at the school (formerly known as GEMS World Academy) achieved a top score of 45 points and two scored 44. Furthermore, 18% of graduates achieved a score of 40 points and above, and 54% achieved 35-plus points.

Dulwich College (Singapore)

At Dulwich College (Singapore), the IB cohort of May 2022 achieved a very high average point score of 38.9, (last year's score was 39.7). Since launching the IBDP in 2020, this was the school's largest graduating cohort size to date with 86 diploma students, up from 47 students last year. All students in the school's Sixth Form take the IBDP.

Dover Court International School

The IB cohort of 20 students at Dover Court achieved an average score of 39 (three points above the 36 points of last year) with a 100% pass rate. Three students achieved 44 out of 45 possible points; 56% achieved more than 40 points.

ISS International School

At ISS International School, the graduating class of 2022 achieved an average score of 35 and there was a 100% pass rate; 96% of students received the Bilingual Diploma.

In the cohort, 49.7% scored 40 points and above and 76.4% achieved 35-plus points.

GESS

The IB cohort at GESS is celebrating a a pass rate of 100% for the second year in a row, over 30% of the cohort scoring 40 points or more, and an average score of 35.3. 

UWCSEA (Dover campus)

UWCSEA (East campus)

Students at the UWCSEA Dover and UWCSEA East campuses scored well above the global average, with average scores of 38.5 (last year's was 39.3) and 37.8 (39.2 in 2021) respectively. The school had a cohort of 576 students across the two campuses.

The first IB Diploma authorised school in Asia, UWCSEA Dover has been offering the IB Diploma since 1977 and UWCSEA East since 2012.

Overseas Family School

The IB Diploma 2022 cohort at Overseas Family School (OFS) celebrated an average score of 37 and had five top scorers. 

The school said:

"Notably, despite being one of the few international schools worldwide that do not preselect students into the IB Diploma Programme, OFS achieved a world-leading 96.8% pass rate, with a phenomenal 37.8% earning prestigious IB Bilingual Diplomas. This is also the 8th year running that OFS has produced IB perfect scorers. Please join us in extending a very special congratulations to our thee top scorers with a perfect 45 points: Sung Bin Lee, Aditya Sil, and Nivedita Sridhar."

Canadian International School

Canadian International School have announced that this year's average score was 37, and the pass rate was 99.2%; 25% of the cohort passed with the Bilingual Diploma. 

NPS International School

NPS International School celebrated a very high average score of 39.5 points, two points lower than last year's average of 41.5. Eight students achieved a perfect 45 points, and 52% of the cohort scored 40 points and above.

Chatsworth International School

The Class of 2022 at Chatsworth International School achieved a 100% pass rate and a top score of 41 points. The school average score was 38 points (its highest ever school average).

Stamford American International School

Stamford American International School celebrated an average score of 35.2 in its cohort of 62 students. The highest score was 44 and 20% of students scored 40-plus points; 53% achieved 35-plus points and 89% 30-plus points.

GIIS SMART Campus

GIIS SMART Campus celebrated an average score of 38.6 (last year’s average score was 38.82); 52% of students scored 40-plus and 78% achieved 35-plus points.

There were six students with the top score of 45 and 15 students receiving near-perfect scores of 44/45.
