The 2023 CBSE and CISCE Grade 12 results have been released, and students at Singapore's Indian schools are celebrating. Here is a round-up of results so far for the Grade 12 and Grade 10 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). 

CBSE has confirmed that this year's pass rate for Grade 12  is 87.33%, down from 2022's pass rate of 92.71%, but higher than 2019's pre-pandemic pass rate of 83.4%. In Grade 10, this year's pass rate is 93.12% down from 2022's pass rate of 99.5%, but higher than 2019's pre-pandemic pass rate of 91.1%.

Four international schools in Singapore offer the CBSEGIIS SMART Campus (pictured above), GIIS East Coast Campus, NPS International School and Yuvabharathi International School – while DPS International School offers the ICSE.

The CBSE and CICSE are seen as the gateway to successful university entry for Grade 12 students or to the continuation to the final two pre-university years of study for those in Grade 10.

GIIS SMART Campus

One of the first schools to share its results was GIIS SMART Campus (pictured above), which is one of the biggest school groups offering the CBSE outside India. The GIIS SMART Campus is an all-through school taking students from two to 19 years, and it offers CBSE Classes 1 to 12 to a predominantly Indian student population.

In the Grade 12 CBSE, GIIS SMART Campus reported a 81.5% school average and a 100% pass rate. 18% of students scored above 95% and 37% students scored above 90%.

The average in the Science Stream was 86%; it was 81.6% in the Commerce Stream.

In the Grade 10 CBSE, the school average was 87.4%.

GIIS East Coast

GIIS East Coast Campus CBSE Grade 10 students also celebrated a strong set of results. The school average is 86.6%, with 50% of the cohort scoring 90% and above.

Shriyans Maddikunta was the school topper with 95.4% marks, followed closely by Riya Mehta with 94.8%. Eight students scored an overall of 90% and above and one student scored an overall of 95% and above.

East Coast Campus Principal CVK Sastry, said:

"An outstanding result with 100% pass and 50% students scoring 90% and above is achieved due to the consistent focus on regular monitoring and individualised feedback given to the students by all subject teachers.”
