Nexus International School Makerspace

STEAM is really brought to the fore at Nexus, where the whole-school makerspace is located at the entrance. Spread across two open-plan classrooms this makerspace is jam-packed with modern and more traditional equipment, including laser cutters, 3D printers, robotics, VR, green screens, construction materials, and sewing machines. Available to all teachers for lesson time, and also used by students during breaks and after school, the Nexus Makerspace is a focal part of the school.

The facility is used across the curriculum by a faculty who show a passion for hands-on learning – so you can expect to see Spanish language learners recording news videos against the green screen, geography students printing a 3D model or a maths class using robots to solve equations.

The school says: “Our makerspace enables us to extend the curriculum in incredibly innovative and exciting ways. Learners can develop ideas and use CAD software, 3D printers, scanners and large format printers to bring these ideas to life. They can experiment with robotics and create unique artwork with computer code.”
