Stamford American International School Makerspace

Students are given the freedom to design, tinker and create in the school’s makerspace, which is kitted out with Virtual Reality (VR) kits, 3D printers, robots, sewing machines! You can expect to find anything from felt bags hanging on the walls to robot race tracks on the floor in this large facility, where students can work in individual rooms or within a more flexible central area.

Activities here range from participating in a LEGO Robotics Sumo competition to designing a new light table for an early years’ classroom. And, located next to the school’s Innovation Centre – with its Bloomberg and Microsoft labs for high school students – this makerspace helps to facilitate the school’s strong focus on creative activities.

The school says: “These spaces make up a creative hub that lets students access new ideas and methods. To date, students have had the chance to pilot and test new technologies, applications and games before they were released to the general public.”
