Owned by the not-for-profit Global Schools Foundation (GSF), GIIS SMART Campus opened in 2018 to offer a very progressive alternative to other Indian schools in Singapore. Describing itself as a “school of the future”, GIIS SMART Campus is focused on delivering a virtual approach to learning and a strong focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, robotics and artificial intelligence, and design technology. While SMART has a large modern campus with several specialist facilities such as a ceramics studio and recording studio, it is still a ‘school in the making’; it will be interesting to see how this school develops once all the facilities are completed.

With average class sizes of 30-35 students, SMART has a higher teacher:student ratio than some other Indian schools here. And, although its fees are also slightly higher, it does have a considerable advantage of being able to offer more modern, specialist and well-equipped facilities.

In line with other GIIS schools in Singapore, SMART offers Global Montessori Plus (GMP) at nursery levels and CBSE from Grades 1-7, and then IGCSEs or CBSE from Grades 8-10; and CBSE or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) from Grades 11-12. The school introduced the IB’s Primary Years Programme in April 2019.
