UWC South East Asia (UWCSEA) is a school of two halves. Dover is a large organically grown campus that has the space and facilities to offer students a wide range of academic options at both IGCSE and IBDP level. The purpose-built East campus is definitely a more modern, compact and urban version.
In terms of teaching and curriculum, UWCSEA is committed to the UWC's mission to "unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future". The school offers a concept-based curriculum that has been developed from the UWC Mission and sees students follow a co-curricular model where they divide their time between their IB studies and wider activities, service work and outdoor education on and off campus.
Both campuses are focused on equipping students with the skills "to become compassionate, engaged global citizens who seek to make positive differences towards peace and a sustainable future". It's an education that goes well beyond the classroom and will certainly appeal to families looking for learning experiences in 'real' situations. Results are consistently excellent. Sport is an integral part of school life, there’s an impressive arts programme, and a vast programme of after-school activities. this mission-driven school also requires all students to take part in its outdoor education programme and service activities.
What the school says: “Our whole learning programme is guided by the UWC Mission. Every part of our curriculum, including the academic side, service, outdoor education, and personal and social education, links back to the Mission. It’s at the core of everything that we do.”
