The non-selective Australian International School is the only school in Singapore to offer both the IBDP and the HSC curricula; the latter includes Vocational Education and Training (VET) in construction and hospitality. Unsurprising for an Australian school, sport and physical education are an important part of life at AIS, and it runs an Athlete Development Programme to develop secondary students for university scholarships and competitive sport.
AIS offers a well-rounded education where visual arts, music and drama are nurtured as much as academic learning. This is achieved through the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) Speech and Drama and the Orff Music Literacy programmes, which both start at just 18 months. The school has a large purpose-built campus, which includes a Reggio Emilia-inspired Early Learning Village for two to six-year-olds that claims to be the largest pre-school in the world.
Parent feedback focuses on the school's strong sports programme, which runs alongside a choice of academic pathways (the IB or the Australian HSC) within a non-selective student community. The AIS’ Athlete Development Programme is praised for pushing students to their limits and "helping athletes in terms of fitness and wellness to succeed"; coaches are described as “very supportive” and the campus has "great facilities with lots of fields and lots of space".
