Harrow International School Hong Kong

As well as upholding many of the Harrow traditions, this all-through British school has a boarding ethos, focus on extra-curricular activities, and mission to educate leaders of the future as part of its DNA. Despite its Gold Coast setting in the New Territories, Harrow International School Hong Kong is an archetypical British public school. It’s also one of Hong Kong’s few international boarding schools.

The Harrow-ness that defines one of the world’s oldest and most famous all-boys boarding schools is felt throughout the corridors and classrooms of this Hong Kong franchise, from the Harrow straw boater and blazers to the House system. Its Britishness also shines through in the architecture of the eight-storey school building, which has been designed to resemble the sweeping Royal Crescent in Bath.

Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong

One of the UK’s premier all-girl boarding schools, Wycombe Abbey, opened a new primary school on Hong Kong Island in September 2019, offering a bilingual education for Grades 1-6. The UK school is a full-boarding, senior school for girls, the Hong Kong campus is a daytime primary school for boys and girls. While the two models are not immediately compatible in terms of transferring daily practice or traditions, they do share a common commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong immerses students in both Mandarin Chinese and English, and the main language of instruction will be English. As well as offering daily Chinese lessons every day, teachers follow a maths curriculum that "blends the best of traditional Chinese and British teaching methods".

Malvern College Hong Kong

The International team from Malvern College UK recognises that “a one cap fits all” approach is not appropriate. “We can’t transport Malvern College in its entirety to any foreign situation, as it has to be localised,” says Allan Walker, Director of Malvern College International Schools.

Headmaster of Malvern College UK, Antony Clark, is directly involved with Malvern College Hong Kong, to help maintain a balance between individual achievement and teamwork, and between academic and extra-curricular education. There's a strong focus on maths and science, a Forest School programme in the prep, and a mandatory chess programme.

Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong

Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong brings all the traditions and values of the highly reputed British Shrewsbury School to a corner of the New Territories. Whereas Shrewsbury UK is a boarding school for students aged 13 to 18, its Hong Kong version is a primary school for children aged 3 to 11 years.

Shrewsbury builds on the foundations of a school that first opened in 1552 and bring its hallmarks of high academic standards and pastoral care to Hong Kong. The school follows the National Curriculum for England and potentially prepares primary students for a boarding education at its UK school.
