Students learn in a very caring and creative environment which takes the well-being of all members of the community – from teachers to cleaners to children – very seriously.

Via curriculum (PE, DT (Food Technology) and PSHCE).  The Parents’ Handbook explains clearly what food is permitted and encouraged in school.

Physical education and sport is an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. How does your school ensure children engage in physical activity?
All  primary and secondary students have compulsory timetabled PE.

How do you promote healthy eating?
As a Health Promoting School, Kings is committed to encouraging and developing positive attitudes towards food and a healthy diet. We recognise the importance of offering children the opportunity to make informed choices.

As a school we know that food is fundamental to the quality of a child’s life, not just in providing essential nutrition but in communicating and sharing positive values, attitudes and experiences with each other.  For more on this, go here.

Does the school have cafeteria facilities for the students?
Children currently have the option to order packed lunches from Dish our food provider. The school cafeteria is due to open shortly along with a parent café

What is the starting and finishing time of your school day?
Start:  08.15.
End:  Sunday - Wednesday:  FS1: 13.00.  FS2: 14.00.  Yr 1-6: 15.00.  Secondary: 15.30.
End: Thursday: FS1: 13.00.  FS2: 13.30.  Yr 1-6: 13.30.  Secondary: 15.30.

Is there a school uniform?
Yes, it can be bought at Zaks.

How does your school differentiate learning?
In so many ways: sometimes by groupings; by outcome; by resourcing; by task.

Do you develop independent learning through homework and, if so, what are your recommendations regarding this, particularly time spent on homework?
The Home Learning Policy is accessible to parents.

How do you feedback progress and attainment to students and parents?
There are 4 reports per year. There are 2 Student-Led Conferences per year. There are 1 or 2 Parents’ Evenings per year (depending in the year group).

Is Arabic taught as both a first language and second language in your school?*

Which other languages are taught?
French, Spanish. Also an after school club for Mandarin Chinese.

Not all schools are staffed or resourced to offer learning support to those children with either moderate or significant learning needs. To what level can you offer support for those with learning differences?
We have a specialist provision for children with dyslexia.  And support for other students with mild learning difficulties.

There is a special extension activity programme for them.

We promote in class support whenever possible and only use pull-out support when necessary.
