The KSA Ministry of Education has not yet published the Academic calendar for the next 2023-24 academic year, but WhichSchoolAdvisor.com has researched the key holiday dates and the most common dates released by schools so far. There will be some variation in term dates between individual schools and you should check with your school for their detailed calendar.
Schools are expected to reopen after their Spring break (incorporating Ramadan and Eid al Fitr) on 30th April 2023. Most schools will close around 26th June for the Hajj and summer vacations, although some may remain open for a further week (until 4th July).
These are the public holidays announced for the 2023-24 academic year:
- 24 September 2023: Saudi National Day
- 22 February 2024 - Saudi Foundation Day
- 10-13 April 2024: Eid al-fitr
- 16 June - 20 June 2024 - Eid al-adha
For schools following an April to March academic year, remaining key dates in the current academic year are:
- 13th to 27th April - Ramadan and Eid al fitr holidays.
- 30th April - schools re-open
- 22nd June - summer holidays commence
The expected holiday dates for 2023-24 are as follows:
- 21st to 27th August 2023 – start of term 2 for Asian schools, term 1 for schools following an August to June academic year.
- 17 December 2023 to 4 January 2024 - Winter Break
- 7th January 2024 – start of term 3 for Asian schools, term 2 for all others.
- 18th to 22nd February - Mid-term break (where applicable) incorporating Saudi Foundation Day .
- 15th March to 1st April - Asian school holidays
- 31st March to 13th April (inc Eid Al Fitr) - Spring break.
- 2nd April - Term 1 commences – Asian schools
- 15th April -Term 3 commences - all other schools
- 12th to 14th May – possible mid-term break (not Asian schools)
- 14th June- End of term 1 (Asian schools)
- 16th to 20th June (Eid Al Adha )
- 4th July - end of academic year for all others.
