Founded in 2002, Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School is an all-through private school that blends bilingualism with UK and IB programmes.
The school’s “forward-looking curriculum” focuses on bilingualism in the primary school, where there’s a co-tutor system and children study in both Chinese and English; bilingualism is further encouraged through field trips, language competitions, and the wide use of Chinese and English books. In Years 6-10, teaching is based on the UK National Curriculum and students sit IGCSEs in Year 10; in Years 11-12, students follow the IB Diploma Programme.
The teacher to student ratio is 1:10, with around 60% being Western teachers and 40% being Chinese.
Facilities at the HKD 400 million campus in Piper Hill include science labs, music rooms, D&T workshop, food technology rom, textiles room, visual art and design rooms, Mac lab and IT labs, indoor swimming pool, 1,000-seat auditorium, library, lecture theatre, sports courts, football pitches and covered playground.
Fees are at the lower end of the scale for an international education in Hong Kong, and range from HKD 80,102-122,309.
