Island Christian Academy (ICA) is a non-profit school with a growing student community. Founded in 2012, this school in Hong Kong Island currently offers primary and middle years education for children aged 5 to 11 years.
ICA is a Christian school that stays true to its founding Biblical principles and values, and the curriculum features a strong emphasis on Christianity and a weekly chapel meeting. It was the first accredited school in Hong Kong to offer the International Primary Curriculum. As the school expands, it plans to pioneer the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC), which is a challenging and concept-focused curriculum created for 11 to 14-year-olds.
The curriculum covers English, maths, science, daily Chinese lessons, Christian studies, PE, and ICT, as well as broader subjects such as international mindedness and personal goals. As well as the IPC, teaching draws on elements of the National Curriculum for England, Australia’s national mathematics programme, and the Biblical Foundation Curriculum for all faith-based classes.
In the school’s own words,
“We deliver a broad, creative, developmental and international curriculum, rooted in a clear Biblical philosophy and vision of education.”
The school is owned by Generations Christian Education, a not-for-profit organisation that has over 30 years of experience in education in Hong Kong. It offers some of the lowest tuition fees in Hong Kong (HKD 116,500 in Years 1 – 6, HKD 128, 300 in Year 7) and has a selective admissions policy.
