Founded in 1992, ICS is open to around 1,000 local and international students from kindergarten through to secondary school.
Teaching follows a US-style curriculum, with students being evaluated through MAP testing during elementary grades, and PSAT and SAT in high school. It’s a well-rounded curriculum that includes the core subjects as well as bible classes in all grades, weekly chapel, sports, art, drama, social studies, Mandarin, and Spanish. Senior secondary students take Advanced Placement courses in art, science, mathematics, English language and literature, and Chinese. The school boasts of its “particularly high standards” in fine arts and performing arts at secondary level, when students have a choice of choir, band, art, and drama programmes, including an innovative theatre technology course.
Beyond the classroom, ICS offers various extra-curricular classes as far-ranging as debating to dance. It also runs a Week Without Walls programme, and fields various teams in the International Schools’ Sports Federation (ISSFHK). While there’s not a 1:1 laptop programme here, as you’ll find in many Hong Kong schools, ICS does give students hands-on experience in cutting edge technologies including robotics, video production, graphic and web design, music composition, and more. In terms of learning support, ICS has a dedicated programme for students with special needs, called Bridges, and also provides support for students with special needs in its mainstream classes.
The school has a beautiful campus in Shek Mun, Sha Tin, which it moved into in 2008.
