Hong Kong’s only Jewish elementary school, Carmel Elementary School is popular with Israeli, American and British expats looking for an IB education that’s rooted in Jewish values.

Carmel School is an elementary school for 2 to 11-year-olds that combines an International Baccalaureate education with Modern Orthodox principles. While the school is popular with the Hong Kong Jewish community, it is also open to students of all nationalities and faiths.

Teaching from nursery though to Grade 5 follows the IB Primary Years Curriculum (PYP) and includes a strong emphasis on music. The school celebrates Jewish holidays and focuses on Jewish traditions, celebrations, and milestones in the Hebrew calendar.

In the school’s own words,

“Carmel is committed to teaching students about, and fostering a love for, Jewish values and traditions, and the Land and State of Israel, its language and culture.”

Carmel Elementary School is part of the Carmel School Association family of schools, which includes the Holly Rofe Early Learning and Elsa High School. Students typically continue their education at Elsa High School.

Located on Borrett Road in the Mid Levels, the facilities at Carmel Elementary School include an outdoor playground and jungle gym, community garden, indoor play area, library, music and art facilities, sports hall, ICT room, and a Special Educational Needs (SEN) room.

Annual tuitions fees ranges from HKD 98,000 to 158,800; there is no Annual Capital Levy or debenture to pay.
