Parents now have a wider choice of schools offering the IBDP, including six that are full IB schools and also follow the IB Primary Years (PYP) and Middle Years Programmes (MYP). This is compared to the much smaller choice of just 10 international schools offering A Levels in Hong Kong.
American School Hong Kong and Stamford American School, Hong Kong have both been fully authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation as an IB World School to offer the IBDP. Their first IBDP cohorts will start in August 2021. They are the only US curriculum schools in Hong Kong to now offer the IB.
American School Hong Kong is one of only a few schools in the New Territories to follow the US Common Core framework, and its inquiry-based approach to learning is enriched by a focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. It is now authorised to follow the model in place at Esol Education's other nine schools worldwide and offer the IBDP to Grade 11 and 12 students.
Stamford American School, Hong Kong is one of just a few international schools in Hong Kong to offer an American education. All teaching and learning is based on the challenging American Education Reaches Out (AERO) and Common Core Plus standards, both popular US frameworks for curriculum consistency across grades K – 12; students now have the choice of graduating with the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) or a High School Diploma, or both.
