Ryan Wan Ming-hui is from ESF Sha Tin College and will study economics at the London School of Economics.
What was key to your success in the IB Diploma?
Managing my workload and revision effectively, spreading it out over the two years; rather than waiting until March/April to revise, I tried to learn all syllabus content before this period. Aside from that, practice and doing past papers is key.
How do you think the IB has prepared you for university?
Economics is a diverse field that I am enthralled by, which allows me to explore my interests and immerse myself in new experiences and opportunities. The IB Diploma programme definitely helped me hone this mind-set, encouraging the pursuit of new interests and learning more about yourself; nurturing an attitude that will hopefully be the driving force of my future path.
What advice would you give to the next cohort of IB students?
While you may find the that IB Diploma Programme to be daunting and stressful, please do not give up on your hobbies and interests! During my final year they gave me something to look forward for after studying, keeping me motivated. Also, please do not put too much pressure on yourself, and just try to ensure that you come out of the exam hall knowing you could not have done any better.
