All kindergartens, primary, secondary and special schools in Hong Kong will be closed tomorrow (Monday) for students and staff. The Education Bureau has announced that all classes will be suspended on Monday September 17, regardless of any weather warnings.
The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a Typhoon Signal No.10, which is the highest level possible, as heavy rain and strong winds bring the city to a standstill.
Typhoon Mangkhut, which is the strongest to hit Hong Kong for decades, follows the tropical cyclone Barijat that moved towards the city just before the weekend. Kindergartens and special schools including ESF’s Jockey Club Sarah Roe School were closed on Friday, after a No.3 alert was raised.
The typhoon season runs from August to September, with the highest frequency of typhoons typically occurring in the month of September.
