Hong Kong's Education Bureau has closed all local and international schools today (October 13) after a No 8 typhoon warning signal was issued. Tropical Storm Nangka is nearing the city, and winds 63km/h to 117km/h or more are expected until Wednesday.
All classes are suspended today and transport services have been affected. Many schools have switched to the distance learning programmes they introduced during the closure of campuses due to Covid-19, meaning that learning can continue.
The typhoon season in Hong Kong typically runs from August to November, with the highest frequency of typhoons typically occurring in the month of September.
